FAQ: Applying with Medfirst
MedFirst specializes in the hiring and staffing of RNs, LPNs, and nurse aides.
Our application is available online. Once you start the application process you will need to establish an individual user name and password to log in to our system. This will allow you to complete the application materials at your own pace, when it is convenient for you. Please call 864.421.0394 if you have questions, or wish to speak with one of our Recruiters.
MedFirst requires that you hold a current license or certification for the state in which you want to work (or have a compact license), and prefers that you have at least one year of recent experience in your clinical specialty. We also require:
- Current CPR (American Heart Association preferred)
- Current certifications required by your specialty (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, etc.)
- Current PPD (within the last twelve [12] months)
- At least two (2) professional references
After you complete the online application, a MedFirst Recruiter will contact you. We want to know your skills and experience, availability, shift preferences, and desired locations. During the application process, you will be asked to submit to a drug screen. We will complete various background checks and will run your name through the federal E-Verify system to determine your eligibility to work in the United States. We will also assign a skills checklist and competency test for you to complete. Once you complete the application process, your Recruiter will present you with available job opportunities.
FAQ: Assignments and Compensation
MedFirst provides highly attractive compensation. Your compensation will depend on your specialty, work history, and assignment choice. Please speak with your Recruiter directly for more information regarding pay rates.
MedFirst pays weekly, every Thursday, based on the time slips from the previous week that you submit to us. Our pay week runs Sunday through Saturday. Time slips must be signed by an authorized supervisor from the facility and must be turned in by Monday at noon to be included in that week’s payroll. Time slips can be faxed to 877-421-0397 or emailed to payroll@medfirststaffing.com. Checks can be mailed to you or direct deposited.
After reviewing your check stub in our online employee portal, call 864.421.0394 or email payroll@medfirststaffing.com if you feel there is a discrepancy in your pay. We work hard to provide you with the right pay, on time, every time. We will make every attempt to correct any discrepancies immediately and to your satisfaction.
MedFirst is a W-2 employer, which means we will withhold all applicable state and federal income taxes, as well as pay the employer portion of Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment taxes.
Our Staffing Manager will contact you immediately to coordinate your schedule with your assigned facility. In addition, we will contact you frequently to monitor the progress of your assignment or to discuss potential new jobs or available shifts. Typically, our contract employees have the option of extending their current assignment or rolling into a new one. MedFirst also has a dedicated Credentials Coordinator as part of our staffing team. You will hear from our Credentials Coordinator when one or more of your credentials is expiring, usually 30 days prior to the expiration date. We want to give you plenty of time to update your credential(s). Our goal is for you to maintain your work schedule uninterrupted by expired credentials.
Our staffing team will assist you in determining the appropriate credentials for each assignment.
