Applying with MedFirst
What type of medical professionals does MedFirst hire?
MedFirst hires a wide range of healthcare personnel, including nurses and
allied health professionals.
What qualifications do I need to apply?
MedFirst typically requires that you have a current license or certification
in your discipline, and at least one year of recent experience in your clinical
specialty. However, we may require that you have two years recent experience
for certain assignments.
In addition, we prefer that you have current CPR and other certifications as required by your specialty (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, etc.) when you apply.
How do I apply?
The quickest, easiest way is to complete our application available
through this website. It should only take a few minutes of your time. However,
you may apply in person at our office, by fax, or by mail. MedFirst will gladly
mail or fax you an application. You may also print out an application on
our Forms Page. Please contact us at 888-421-0395 day or night if you have
any questions, or wish to speak with one of our recruiters.
What do I have to complete to be considered for an assignment?
You need to complete our employment application to be considered for an assignment.
We will also need you to provide your professional credentials and health
information to us prior to beginning your assignment.
Once we receive your completed application, a MedFirst recruiter will contact you to review your application. We want to learn more about you. For example, we want to know your skills and experience, availability, shift preferences, and desired locations.
Once we have that information, our recruiter will work to present you with job opportunities that fit your interests. When you find an assignment that interests you, tell us, and we will present your qualifications to our customer, and work with you to begin the interviewing process for that facility. If both you and the customer want to move forward, we will assist you to finalize the assignment.
If I submit an application to MedFirst, am I committed to accepting an assignment
with the company? Does it cost anything for me to work with MedFirst?
No, completing our application does not commit you to accepting an assignment
with MedFirst. Your completed application will enable our recruiters to begin
the process of finding the appropriate assignment for your skills. We will
then present these assignments to you to determine your level of interest.
MedFirst does not charge our applicants or employees any fees to apply to, or to work for our company.
Assignments and Compensation
What type of assignments does MedFirst have?
MedFirst has hundreds of jobs for nurses and other healthcare professionals
in a variety of settings throughout the United States, including large teaching
hospitals, smaller community hospitals, and long term care facilities. These

However, the bulk of our opportunities are local contract and travel.
Our per diem assignments vary in length from a single shift to several days. Our contract positions are typically 13 week assignments. However, we have contract assignments of varying length negotiated to meet the special needs of our employees and customers. As a contract employee, you will typically be scheduled for 36 hours per week if you work 12-hour shifts, or 40 hours per week if you work 8-hour or 10-hour shifts.
MedFirst also hires Certified Nursing Assistants for home care positions in upstate South Carolina (we occasionally have home care openings for RNs and LPNs).
How much will I earn working for MedFirst?
MedFirst provides highly attractive compensation plans, which we tailor to
meet the needs of our employees. Your compensation will depend on your specialty,
work history, and assignment choice (including location). Your recruiter
will work with you to negotiate the most appealing pay rate, facility, and
location choices.
In addition to your regular wages, MedFirst pays generous loyalty and completion bonuses on certain assignments. Moreover, we pay bonuses for employee referrals. Please discuss these opportunities with your recruiter.
How often do I get paid?
MedFirst will pay you weekly by mail, or by free direct deposit into your
bank account. Also, if you work in upstate South Carolina, you may pick
your check up in our office.
MedFirst works hard to provide you with the right pay, on time, every time.
However, if we do make a mistake, we will immediately correct it to your satisfaction.
Does MedFirst withhold taxes from my paycheck?
Yes. MedFirst employs its staff as W-2 employees. We are responsible for withholding
all applicable state and federal taxes from your paycheck. In addition,
you are also covered by our workers’ compensation and professional
liability insurance policies.
What happens after I accept an assignment with MedFirst?
Our recruiter will contact you frequently to monitor the progress of your
current assignment or
to discuss potential new jobs. Typically, our contract employees have the
